Partner Migration

People sometimes refer to partner visa as marriage visa. In fact, partner visa covers a wide subclasses including prospective marriage visa or so called fianc? visa, defacto visa and interdependency visa. If you have a partner who is an Australian permanent resident or citizen or eligible New Zealand citizen, you are eligible to apply for a permanent visa to join your partner in Australia. The process of partner visa is divided into two stages:

• Spouse (Provisional) Visa

Upon the approval of the first stage of partner visa, applicant will be issued with a temporary resident visa, and is entitled to full time work rights permit, medicare card and free 500 hours English lesson for new migrants. This is called the first stage.

• Spouse (Permanent) Visa

After the end of the first stage as mentioned above and provided that the relationship is still continuing and genuine, applicant can proceed to apply for the second stage of partner visa to become permanent resident of Australia.
